At Point 9, I strive to provide a holistic approach to health and wellness using Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Ancient wisdom with modern application. Acupuncture has it's roots in ancient traditions and wisdom which has been refined and adapted to modern ways. The combination of historical knowledge and contemporary understanding makes this practice unique. TCM is a complete system of healing that has been used for thousands of years and is based on the idea of restoring balance within the body. I not only use various forms of Acupuncture but also cupping, moxa, LED light therapy and magnetic therapy.
I specialise in providing acupuncture treatments that target specific areas of the body to help reduce pain, improve mood, treat chronic illnesses, and promote overall well-being. I take the time to get to know each individual client and create personalised treatments to meet their needs.
At Point 9, I specialise in the traditional healing practice of Acupuncture and Auricular Acupuncture. We understand the power of ancient Chinese medicine and its ability to treat a variety of ailments. Acupuncture and the micro-systems stimulate specific posts along the meridians to restore the balance of Qi and promote healing
Acupuncture stimulates the sensory nerves under the skin and muscles this triggers the release of various neurotransmitters, such as endorphins (natural painkillers), Serotonin (mood regulators). These substances help to reduce pain, promote relaxation and enhance overall wellbeing. Studies have shown that acupuncture can modulate brain activity, including regions associated with pain processing, emotions and stress response. Research has shown than acupuncture regulates the immune response and reduces inflammation by influencing the release of inflammatory markers and cytokines.

Acupuncture can be used along side conventional medicine, working in harmony. Instead of solely focusing on individual symptoms, TCM aims to identify and address the root cause. Targeting this imbalance, the practice strives to support long-term healing and overall health improvement.
We provide individualised, holistic care to each and every patient. We are dedicated to helping our patients find relief from their symptoms, improve their overall well-being and live a healthier, more balanced life.

Depending on the condition, most patients will need a plan over 4-6 weeks, with occasional top-up sessions. Acupuncture works incredibly effectively with acute conditions, so make that appointment asap.

I offer cosmetic acupuncture as a safe and natural alternative to Botox. Cosmetic acupuncture enhances the appearance and texture of the skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The well known calming effects help to reduce stress and tension, benefiting the overall health of the skin.

A session consists of facial brushing with natural bamboo brushes, facial acupuncture, inserting the smallest needles into select areas of the face. Gua sha, a smooth edged tool made of rose quartz which is used to scrape along the surface of the skin enhancing blood flow, releasing tension and assisting in the removal of toxins by promoting lymphatic drainage. Finally I use facial cups to promote healing and reduce inflammation, again the cups help with body's natural detoxification process, stimulating the lymph nodes. Cupping is a relaxing and soothing experience and aids in reducing stress and anxiety. I use 100% natural products best suited to your skin complaints, prickly pear oil for anti-aging, apricot kernel for inflammation, natural tallow for moisture and protection and skincare from The Edinburgh Natural Skincare company.

NB. For continual and permanent results it is recommended to have 2 sessions a week for 2 weeks, then once a week for 6 weeks, then ongoing maintenance of once a month/ 6 weeks in order to maintain the appearance. It is recommended to have facial acupuncture at least 5 days before a big event, as the acupuncture can lead to small, light bruising.
I also offer group sessions at wellness retreats and festivals. Patients receive auricular acupuncture in a shared space with others. This can be a cost-effective way to receive treatment and can also provide a sense of community and support.
At Point 9, I believe that auricular acupuncture has incredible potential to help heal the mind and body. We use the NADA protocol, a protocol that has been used around the world for over 40 years, to help people with a range of conditions, from anxiety and depression to chronic pain and addiction.
(1) Sympathetic – calms the nervous system and helps with overall relaxation.
(2) Shen Men - Tranquillises the mind, allows a connection to one’s spirit; Helps all other auricular points work better. Key point for alleviating pain.
(3) Kidney Point – for calming fears and healing internal organs.
(4) Liver Point – for detoxification, blood purification, and to quell aggression.
(5) Lung Point – promotes aeration and helps clients let go of grief

For those experiencing musculoskeletal pain, I offer battlefield acupuncture, a technique developed by the military to quickly relieve pain in combat situations. This technique involves inserting small needles in specific areas of the ear to activate the body's natural painkillers.
So why is this so effective? Research carried out in Korea using MRI scans, has shown a reduction in the size of the active pain receptor areas in the brain, after the insertion of the needles. So it would appear that these ear points have the ability to block pain reception and over time maintain this reduction in size of pain reception areas in the brain. This corresponds with patients’ reported reductions in pain. It has been shown to be effective in treating a variety of conditions, including back pain, migraines, and arthritis.
(1) Cingulate Gyrus - Part of the limbic lobe of the brain involved in processing emotion, learning and memory.
(2) Omega 2 - Used for musculoskeletal pain, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammation of the limbs.
(3) Point Zero - Brings the whole body to homeostatic balance; balances energy, hormones, and brain activity; supports the actions of other points; controls visceral organs through the peripheral nerve ganglia. Promotes willpower.
(4) Shen Men - Tranquillises the mind, Helps all other auricular points work better. Key point for alleviating pain.
(5) Thalamus Point - Regulates over excitement: anxiety, depression, and schizophrenia; restores tranquility; reduces chronic pain; tonifies the brain and calms the mind; used for drug detoxification; water metabolism; internal organ functions.
